Day Five: The Bar

I came in a little earlier than usual so I could get a chance to see Jenna again before she left the following morning.

I got to meet Smoothdog for a short time, but he was (understandably) otherwise occupied. I myself was diverted by Janelle, who was being her warm, caring, and attentive self. So, SD and I didn’t really get a chance to do more than shake hands. Still, it was cool to meet a fellow boards member.

I soon found myself sitting in a big comfy chair next to Alex, and it wasn’t long before we were joined by Casey and Jenna. We sat and chatted about nothing in particular, and just had a lot of fun. There I was, literally surrounded by the gorgeous ladies I’d partied with, chatting and laughing with them like old friends, and drawing some rather jealous looks from around the room. It was a heady experience.

Jenna had to leave after an hour or so, and Alex came and went, but Casey stayed with me until the end of her shift.

I had planned to party that night, but found that I was more tired than I’d expected. Tired enough that I didn’t think I should be driving myself anywhere. I ended up sitting in that one chair for pretty much the whole night. I tried to nap, but it didn’t really work out. But hey, if you’ve got to be stuck somewhere feeling under the weather, there are much worse places to be than the Wild Horse Saloon.

I spoke for a while with Yvette, who was sweet, understanding, and very good company.

Shelley DuShell hung out not too far from me for the last couple hours of her shift. I don’t think I was much company, but it was nice to have her around. She gave me some good advice, too.

Towards the end of Shelley’s shift, Janelle came over to keep us company. It was pretty late for her (well after her shift), but she was lively and entertaining. She sang and danced and talked and just brightened up the room. She’s got a big heart, she is very genuine, and you just couldn’t ask for a better friend when you need one.

I got dinner at the bar. Really good food at a reasonable price. When I finished, I was feeling a bit more myself. It was 9am by then, and I’d been sitting in that chair for nearly 10 hours. Didn’t get to party with anyone, and wasn’t feeling that great, but I’d had the company of more than a few lovely ladies. So, while the night didn’t go as planned, I can’t exactly complain.
