By late 2004, most of the land on which the original Mustang Ranch brothels once sat had been cleared by their new owner, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Some of the buildings were auctioned off to Lance Gilman, the proprietor of nearby the Wild Horse, while others were sold to Dennis Hof, owner of the Moonlite BunnyRanch in Mound House near Carson City. All of the surviving structures of the Mustang I were at that time relocated to Mr. Gilman's property across the parking lot from his existing Wild Horse brothel, about 6 miles to the east. Mr. Hof eventually dropped plans to move the Mustang II buildings he had acquired, later donating them to Storey County so they could be intentionally burned down as part of a regional firefighter training exercise held on March 25, 2007. Though the Mustang I buildings were moved & remodeled, the rights to use the name "Mustang Ranch" for a legal brothel were entangled in a nearly four year long legal dispute that also involved David Burgess, the long-time owner (along with his ex-wife, Ingrid) of the nearby OBR.

Interestingly enough, Mr. Burgess just happens to be a nephew of the old Mustang's infamous proprietor, Joe Conforte. Dave began his career in LPIN as a handyman at the original Mustang in 1974. He became that brothel's manager in 1979 and served as such for the next ten years. In 1984, he build and opened a brothel of his own (the OBR) a mere 200 yards upstream (along the Truckee River) from the original Mustang complex. But unlike his uncle Joe, neither he nor his business had ever been in any serious trouble with the Feds — that is, until July 2007.

On November 30, 2004, the Mr. Gilman was granted an additional brothel license by Storey County officials, and his second cathouse opened on July 1, 2005 within the relocated and extensively renovated Mustang I buildings now located across the parking lot from his original bordello. He had always wanted to name this new operation the "World Famous Mustang Ranch", but could not immediately do so because of a legal dispute over rights to use that name (which was resolved in his favor on December 15, 2006). In the interim, this house was known only as "Lance's World Famous Brothel".

So for the first time in almost exactly six years, the area just to the east of Reno was finally once again home to three operating legal brothels, two of which were co-located at the end of Wild Horse Canyon Drive. A huge "Grand Opening" party was held at the "new" Mustang on Saturday, July 21, 2007, celebrating both the opening of a Mustang Ranch Brothel Museum (in another relocated and updated structure) and the final completion of all the renovations to and modernization of the neighboring Mustang I buildings. Long-time fugative Joe Comforte even appeared at this party via satellite link from his current home somewhere in Brazil. Informed sources reported that the interview was delayed for several minutes as the IRS attempted to tap into the video feed - in my opinion, just another example of the Bush/Cheney administration sqandering yet more of the U.S. taxpayers' money on a lost cause.

Meanwhile, also in July 2007, Old Bridge Ranch owner David Burgess was stopped by police in western Wyoming for having expired license plates on his motor home. Upon inspection of the vehicle, photographs of underage females were allegedly discovered on two hard drives of a computer contained within that motor home. On April 18, 2008, Burgess was convicted by a jury in Federal District Court on felony charges of possesion of child pornography. As a direct result of this verdict, on May 9, 2008, the brothel license held by Burgess for the Old Bridge Ranch was suspended by Storey County and the brothel was forced to immediately close. Subsequently to Burgess' sentencing by U.S. District Court judge Alan B. Johnson on July 7, 2008, the county rekoked all of the licences for the Old Bridge Ranch, sealing its fate and relegating it to LIPN history.

On November 11, 2011, it was publicly revealed that Lance Gilman had a "silent financial partner" in the Wild Horse when it first opened in 2002, in violation of Storey County brothel regulations that require anyone with a 5% or greater interest be listed so they may undergo a background check by the county. Mr. Gilman claimed that he was unable to obtain loans from commercial lenders at that time and merely sought additional private capital to construct and establish the Wild Horse. A local newspaper article stated that as a result of that violation Storey County would shut down the brothel, effective Tuesday, November 15, 2011. While the separately licensed Wild Horse Saloon reportedly was to remain open, a portion of the working ladies of the Wild Horse Adult Resort & Spa were relocated to the World Famous Mustang Ranch across the parking lot, whose brothel license was unaffected by this controversey. However, the remaining Wild Horse ladies and staff were laid off and the brothel was closed as reported by the 15th, with the Saloon and a catering business based at the Wild Horse's kitchen also ceasing operation at the same time.

This relocation of ladies, as well as the suspiciously long time lag between the alleged violation and the padlocking of the Wild Horse, led some to speculate that Lance Gilman was simply consolidating his two brothels in order to cut overhead during these trying economic times. However, the closing of the non-brothel businesses, as well as the revelation of a lawsuit against Mr. Gilman by his alleged silent partner, led to further speculation that this was merely a way for Mr. Gilman to get full control of the operation free and clear of this former associate once and for all. As such, an application was almost immediately made to extend the still-valid brothel licence of Mr. Gilman's neighboring house, the World Famous Mustang Ranch, to cover operations in the former Wild Horse building. However, action on this petition by Storey County regulators was postponed to allow time for further investigation into the situation. Finally, in January of 2012, that request was approved by the county; and subsequently, on January 11, 2012, the former Wild Horse brothel reopened under the new name Mustang Ranch Resort. The ladies who had relocated to the WFMR moved back into their original house and those that had been laid off due to space limitations across the lot were invited to return. The Wild Horse Saloon also reopened (with no name change at that time), and a "grand reopening celebration" was held on January 20, 2012.

So for the bulk of 2012, there was technically only one open bordello in the part of northwestern Storey County which lies immediately east of the Reno/Sparks metro area. This "new" Mustang was operated as two separate entities - the World Famous Mustang Ranch and the Mustang Ranch Resort - covered by a single brothel license. The former Wild Horse website was reactivated, but was not immediately updated to reflect the new name.

Recent History
In the Summer of 2012, management decided to convert a portion of the World Famous Mustang Ranch building into a guest lodge, with hotel rooms to be made available for the public. At first, brothel lineups were still held in the parlor of the Mustang in addition to those held across the parking lot in the former Wild Horse Building. However, by mid-Fall, all working ladies had been relocated to the former Wild Horse's building at the Mustang Ranch Resort and all lineups are now held in the parlor there. The former World Famous Mustang Ranch is now exclusively a hotel, bar, and restaurant (though some "outdates" still occur in this building's VIP suites) and is now known as the Mustang Ranch Lodge. In addition, sometime during 2013 the Wild Horse Saloon was also rechristened as The Mustang Saloon, completing the purge of the Wild Horse moniker from the property, except of course, for the street name on which it sits.

In the summer of 2013, Lance Gilman lost the lawsuit that had been filed by his former silent partner, but his appeal of that verdict was still pending as of the Spring of 2014. Certain media reports and (potentially malicious) rumors have alleged that Gilman's properties may soon be subject to forclosure, but they has been denied by Mustang Ranch management. Stay tuned, as the long, colorful history of legal prositution in Storey County, Nevada is most certainly bound to take more twists and turns in the future.

First licensed in late 2004 and opened for business on June 1, 2005, the Mustang Ranch Resort (MRR) brothel is now housed in the building that was built to house the Wild Horse Adult Resort & Spa (which first opened in a temporary facility located behind this structure on June 7, 2002). The MRR is located just across the Truckee River in Storey County from the Patrick exit (#28) off I-80. Located in a box canyon, but still visible from the nearby Interstate even though it is completely hidden from almost all of the tennants of the neighboring Patrick Business Park, owner Lance Gilman built this lavish permanent main house just in front of the cozy temporary facility which had served as the Wild HOrse brothel since that now-former establishment's opening day. Since vacating the temporary structure (which has now become the Brothel Manager's private residence) to move into the permanent building in May of 2003, the MRR also sports a large public bar area known as the Mustang Saloon (f/k/a the Wild Horse Saloon — which has always been a legally a separate business entity from either bordello). You can enter directly into the bar from the parking lot, or choose to use the second, seperate entrance (the "Red Door") on the east side of the building which leads straight into the brothel's spacious parlor area (which can also be reached from the bar via another secured passageway known as "The Green Door"). In addition, a third "private" entry for V.I.P. clients wishing total discretion is also available (call ahead if you wish to take advantage of this service).

On November 15, 2011, the brothel portion of the Wild Horse Adult Resort & Spa was closed by Storey County officials (see Background and History above). A portion of its working ladies then relocated to the World Famous Mustang Ranch (WFMR), its neighbor across the parking lot since July 2005. But on January 11, 2012, the former Wild Horse was reopened as the Mustang Ranch Resort, under a newly "extended" license of the WFMR. Until the fall of 2012, these two entities continued to be operated as separate houses, each with its own lineups, phone numbers, and websites. The Wild Horse Saloon was also reopened, at the time retaining its original name. By late October of 2012, the brothel operations were consolidated (see Recent History above) back into this former Wild Horse building with the WFMR then converting into a lodge (hotel), bar, & restaurant (though its VIP rooms may still be used for "outdates"). In 2013, the Wild Horse saloon became the Mustang Saloon.

General directions: After leaving the eastbound freeway at the Patrick exit, turn right onto the road that bridges the Truckee River. If you happen to be coming from the east on westbound I-80, take the Patrick exit, which loops under the freeway, then turn left (east) on the two-way traffic frontage road just south of the Interstate. About 0.75 mile later on that frontage road you intersect the road from the Eastbound I-80 ramps, turn right here, toward the river crossing and Industrial Park. Then, from either direction, after bridging the river, you turn right at the next intersection (by the "Patrick Business Park" sign), cross the railroad tracks, then immediately bear right onto Wild Horse Canyon Drive (which is now well signed). Follow this road, past the side road on the left called Megabyte Drive, until it ends at the brothel's main gate and guard house, past which you will see the large parking lot, the MRR's main building beyond (containing that brothel and the Mustang Saloon), and the relocated & renovated Mustang buildings (which used to house the World Famous Mustang Ranch, but are now home to the Mustang Ranch Lodge) off to your right.

Now merely a hotel, bar, & restaurant, the brothel operation having been consolidated into the former Wild Horse building across the parking lot, the World Famous Mustang Ranch still greets visitors to the Mustang Ranch Resort.

On November 30, 2004, Storey County officials granted Lance Gilman a licence for the opening of a second brothel on his property situated at the end of Wild Horse Canyon Drive. Opened on July 1, 2005, this new cathouse was housed in the extensively renovated buildings of the former Mustang Ranch (#1), which Mr. Gilman purchased and relocated here from their former site several miles to the west. Plans had always called for this new operation to be rechristened as the World Famous Mustang Ranch, but the rights to use the words "Mustang Ranch" for a legal Nevada brothel were at that time tied up in court (and remained so until mid-December 2006). See the entry for the Mustang Ranch Resort (MRR) above for general directions to the common drive-through entry gate (security station) and parking lot for this brothel, its sister operating (the MRR), and its attached Mustang Saloon.

The relocated buildings were completely gutted and partially reconfigured to fit on their new site. All mechanical and electrical components were upgraded and modernized to meet or exceed current codes, and the salvagable decorative elements were restored to their original glory. Then-general manager Susan Austin spared no expense in decorating the spacious parlor and bar areas of what was temporarily called "Lance's World Famous Brothel", and the result is a spectacular space, unmatched in both history and lavishness. The ladies' rooms were cozy, and now had many more amenities than they did "back in the day". Other recent innovations had also been incorporated into the old house, such as such as "negotiation rooms" as found at and pioneered by the neighboring Wild Horse (now the MRR). However, until the Fall of 2006 this brothel was still surrounded (unlike its neighbor) by the typical "fence and gate" found at the majority of other Nevada brothel sites. While the gate has now been eliminated, you still had to "buzz in" at the actual front door. But the infamous multiple bell codes calling a lineup - which the original Mustang's management once used to identify customers by their race - were thankfully a thing of the past!

The completion of the final renovations to the "D" wing (acutally, the old "D" and "E" wings - which had to be doubled-up here due to the nearby hillside), the opening of a brand-new outdoor pool and Jacuzzi (both heart-shaped) and surrounding sunbathing area, as well as the public debut of the neighboring Mustang Ranch Brothel Museum were all celebrated with a lavish "Grand Opening" party and open-house on Saturday, July 21, 2007. People from all over stopped by to pay their respects to the magnificient restoration and renovation job that owner Lance Gilman and general manager Susan Austin had done with these historic structures. Many former Mustang Ranch employees, courtesans, and customers attended this gala, which garnered extensive local and national media coverage. Even Joe Comforte was there, in a manner of speaking, via a live satellite link to his then-current home in Brazil.

The newly opened north end of the "D" wing next to the new pool area now contained three lavish "supersuites", as spacious and luxurious a surroundings as had ever been seen to-date in any legal Nevada brothel. The Mustang grand opening event was so large that Mr. Gilman created a new overflow parking lot on a parcel of undeveloped land just northwest of the main entry and guard booth, as the existing large paved lot then shared by the Mustang and the Wild Horse was correctly predicted to be inadequate to handle the huge crowd that visited these adult resorts on that day. By the way, the original Mustang's infamous "guard tower" had also been reassembled; it now sits just to the east of the "A" wing at the north end of the common (paved) main parking lot.

With the late 2012 conversion of this former brothel into a hotel, bar, and restaurant, the brothel license granted to Gilman in 2004 now has gone across the parking lot to the Mustang Ranch Resort brothel (housed in the building that had originally been built for the Wild Horse). But some "outdates" from that bordello still occur in the supersuites of this structure's "D" wing, keeping a small bit of its history as a legal brothel alive.

Mustang-area (I-80 EXIT 23) former brothel sites:

Note: All three of the houses listed below are no longer operating. Their locations are given here for those interested in LPIN history. They were all on the south side of the Truckee River, i.e., in Storey County. The nearest  actual  town is Lockwood, NV - which lies just to the west, and like the former brothels, is actually located within in Storey County; however, the nearest named  place  is Mustang, NV - which lies back across the river (and the Interstate) in Washoe County. The interchange on I-80 (exit #23) used to get here is named after that town, as were two of the brothels once located here. There are no longer any Conforte-era buildings standing on the U.S. Bureau of Land Management property that was once was home to the two Mustang Ranches, but building where the Old Bridge Ranch was located just down the road still stands. That property was reportedly leased from the Peri family, who are believed to still control the land and now the former OBR building on it.

The remaining buildings of the Mustang II were intentionally burned down as part of a training exercise for firefighters from Storey County and other nearby juristictions on Sunday, March 25, 2007. The structures had been donated to the county for this specific purpose by Dennis Hof, who had acquired them several years earlier in a U.S. Bureau of Land Management auction. Hof's original intent was to move them to his Lyon County brothel properties, but that proved to be too costly. The BLM wanted the buildings gone one way or the other, so they were torched in place in order to provide some realistic structure fire training for local fire brigades.

The Old Bridge Ranch - Permanently CLOSED & License REVOKED

Located just beyond the long-closed and now-cleared former Mustang Ranch property (which was seized by the U.S. government in June of 1999), the Old Bridge Ranch remained open until May of 2008, since it never shared any direct affiliation with the Joe Conforte-related establishments nearby (other than being the site of his original, pre-1971 cathouse). Long-time owners David Burgess and his former wife Ingrid for years kept within the strict letter of the (now overturned) law prohibiting Nevada brothels from advertising by not having an "official" website for their brothel, but much OBR information was once found on Dave's personal sites (among several not-so-subtle rants against fellow brothel owner Dennis Hof). Since a Spring 2006 court challenge to this advertisment prohibition by fellow brothel owner Bobbi Davis (of the Shady Lady), Dave had begun to use the URL "themustangranch.org" to establish a more permanent web presence for his house. That site was listed as "under construction", but was subsequently abandoned since he lost his appeal (on December 15, 2006) in a separate lawsuit over the rights to use the name "Mustang Ranch" for a brothel (see below). Subsequently he lost the entire OBR operation, as a result of his April 2008 convition on Federal child pornography charges (see Background & History section above).

Though the nearest actual town is Lockwood, the OBR and Conforte-era Mustang Ranches really were much closer to the tiny settlement of Mustang - which is acutally found across the river (and the Interstate) in Washoe County according to official United States Geological Survey (USGS) maps. However, neither Mustang nor Lockwood are apparently recognized as an "addressable place" by the United States Postal Service (USPS), which inaccurately assigned them addresses as if they were in Sparks. But these brothels were indeed accessed from the I-80 exit and subsequent surface road both named Mustang. Sometime around early 2003, the ladies of the OBR began to bill themselves as the "Mustang Girls of the Old Bridge Ranch", surely in part to capitalize on the fame of those neighboring former brothels, but also to remind everyone that there was still an open bordello in the Mustang, NV area (since when Comforte's houses were operating, a large number of their patrons didn't even realize the OBR even existed, just a few short yards further down the road).

Ever since the final demise of the neighboring brothels, Dave had planned to formally rename his property as the Mustang Ranch, but he lost that right after a four-year legal battle. In an August 2004 posting, he once referred to his business as, "...The Mustang Ranch (dba: Old Bridge Ranch just in case the [Storey County brothel] licensing board needs a legitimate excuse not to fuck with me)...". But on December 15, 2006, a federal circuit court judge ruled that the right to use the Mustang Ranch name and logo now belongs to Lance Gilman, who had purchased them along with some of the buildings from the original Mustang property from the federal government several years earlier. GIlman immediately began using these trademarks and this issue now appears settles once and for all since no appeals were filed.

General directions: To get to the site of these former brothels, you take the Mustang exit (#23) on I-80. Assuming you're heading east from Reno, pass the first turn-off after exiting, and head straight (if you're westbound on I-80, see the detailed WB directions for this somewhat confusing exit). Once south of the freeway, follow the narrow, but well-lighted road downhill, under the railroad, then across a new, modern bridge over the Truckee River (and into Storey County). This structure, openend in late-summer 2003, replaced the previous, one-lane crossing (which, by the way, was not the "Old Bridge" implied by one of the brothels' names - that structure washed away in a 1992 flood). You then bear to the right and pass the cleared, former site of the Mustang Ranches (keeping them to your left, if you remember where they once were) and finally round a curve before you come to the site of the OBR, which is on the left side of the unsigned Peri Ranch Road.

How to get to the northwestern Storey County brothels from Reno:
From all parts of the Reno/Sparks metro area, you want to get to I-80 and then proceed east (i.e., toward Fernley, Winnemucca, Elko, and Salt Lake City).

• From Reno/Tahoe International Airport (RNO), follow the signs directing you to U.S. 395 North, then proceed to exit 68A: I-80 EAST (to Sparks & points east).
• From western areas of Reno, or central areas of either Reno or Sparks, get directly onto I-80 East via the nearest interchange.
• From most southern parts of the Reno area, take U.S. 395 North to exit 68A: I-80 East.
• From some southeastern areas of Reno it may be quicker to take McCarren Boulevard north (counterclockwise) to I-80 East.
• From northwestern parts of the Reno area, take U.S. 395 South to exit 68: I-80. Stay to the left on this ramp for I-80 eastbound. An alternate route if coming from north of McCarran Boulevard would be to exit onto that street (at exit 70) and follow it east then south as it loops through Sparks until you get to I-80.
• From Sun Valley (north), take NV 443 (Sun Valley Drive & Clear Acre Lane) to McCarran Boulevard, turn left, then immediately bear right to get on U.S. 395 South. Then follow U.S. 395 South to exit 68: I-80. Stay to the left on this ramp for I-80 eastbound. Or alternately, remain on eastbound McCarran and follow it as it loops through Sparks until you get to I-80.
• From northeastern areas of the Reno/Sparks region, use NV 445 (Pyramid Lake Road & Pyramid Way) to directly access I-80, or turn from Pyramid Lake Road onto NV 650 (McCarren Boulevard) and follow it east, then south, to I-80 East.

It appears that most, if not all, of the construction projects along Interstate 80 in the Reno-Sparks vicinity have been completed (for now). Construction at the I-80 / U.S. 395 traffic interchange located between downtown Reno and Sparks, known locally as the (Reno) Spaghetti Bowl, has also been completed for the time being. So for the most part, I-80 is cone zone & orange barrel free all the way between the Patrick exit (#28) and just east of Truckee, CA! However, it's very doubtful that this stretch of road will remain that way for very long, as certain portions remain in desparate need of modernization and expansion.

The U.S. 395 freeway also is once again mostly construction-free in the Reno area, with the 2011 completion of the U.S. 395 Northbound project. However, it does get somewhat congested (by Reno standards) at times during rush-hours for reasons of excessive traffic volume.

If you do encounter a construction zone, please slow down and be very careful to keep a sharp lookout for construction workers, who are merely trying to stay alive and earn a living while improving these roads for the future safety and convienence of all.

Map/Directions to the Patrick-area brothel from Reno:

(1) Proceed on I-80 East from Reno for about 13 miles (from the U.S. 395 interchange).
(2) Take the Patrick exit (#28). At the bottom of this ramp, proceed right at the STOP sign, onto NV 655 South (which is NOT currently listed on the big green exit signs on I-80, by the way), heading toward the nearby Industrial Park.
(3) Immediately after turning south onto NV 655, you will pass a side road, marked "Waltham Way (right arrow)" and "TO I-80 West (right arrow)". DO NOT TURN HERE, as this is westbound Waltham Way, which parallels I-80 as a frontage road on the south, and leads back to an underpass for the ramps to and from westbound I-80, as well as to the actual town of Patrick beyond. Instead, go STRAIGHT, on NV 655 South, across a cattle guard, past a dirt cross road (fenced off on both sides), then across the new bridge over the Truckee River (which marks the county line).
(4) After crossing the Truckee River on NV 655 South to enter Storey County, you come to an intersection (the state highway ends here), where you should see a sign for the Patrick Business Park straight across the crossing road on the right. Turn RIGHT at this intersection (which is about 0.20 mile from the end of the eastbound freeway ramp and 0.18 mile from the frontage road intersection) to proceed on eastbound Waltham Way (even though you'll actually be turning west-southwest at this point). The road to the left (heading east-northeast) is NOT Waltham Way, it leads to the Master Foods USA facility and is sometimes gated off at night. There is also another gate preventing you from proceeding any further south at this intersection. Be VERY careful when leaving, as the southbound (inbound) traffic does NOT have to stop (who designed the traffic control at this intersection anyway?). Once you turn right, Waltham Way starts to curve to the right (south), then intersects the railroad at a gated and signalized crossing.
(5) Immediately after crossing the railroad tracks, bear right onto Wild Horse Canyon Drive (marked with a small street sign and a somewhat larger non-standard sign) which veers off to the south as Waltham Way continues to climb a small grade and curves back to the east (see, it really was eastbound Waltham). If you reach the San-Mar warehouse facility (or cross the railroad tracks a second time), you have gone too far. When you leave the brothel, you have to obey the STOP sign at this intersection (be very careful here, as the angle of the intersection and grade make it somewhat blind). As of mid-2007, there are several signs and pavement "rumblers" to remind you as you approach this intersection and STOP sign.
(6) Heading southbound, Wild Horse Canyon Drive is at first three lanes, before dropping the center turn lane at a side road left (to the east) which has recently been paved and named Megabyte Drive. There are some new buildings along here as well. Continue straight another 0.5 mile from this intersection, on the now 2-lane Wild Horse Canyon Dr, past the "No Outlet" sign, and under some power lines. Watch for a drop in speed limit here as you proceed further up into the box canyon where the actual brothels are located, to a white gate with the Mustang name & logo. A security station has been established here, to redirect those who may be lost and do not wish to patronize the bordellos, as well as to offer a "private V.I.P." entrance service to clients wishing total discretion during their visit.
(7) During the daytime, when a guard is not normally on duty, press the indicated button to open the gate (which moves very slowly, so be patient). At night, the guard on duty should greet you. Just past the gate, fence, and the decorative flagpoles is the large, paved automobile and truck parking lot. The main house containing the Mustang Ranch Resort brothel (formerly known as the Wild Horse Adult Resort & Spa) and the public restaurant/bar (Wild Horse Saloon) is clearly visible at the parking facility's southern end. At the lot's northwest corner, past the now ornimental-only guard tower from the original Mustang, the relocated & refurbished buildings housing the current incarnation of the World Famous Mustang Ranch are visible. At the lot's western end, the Mustang Ranch Brothel Museum is now also open to visitors; but please call the WFMR brothel at (775) 343-1424 to inquire about this museum's days & hours of operation.

Map/Directions to sites of the historical former Mustang Ranches & Old Bridge Ranch from Reno:

(1) Proceed on I-80 East from Reno for about 8.75 miles (from the U.S. 395 interchange).

(2) Take the Mustang exit (#23), which becomes Mustang Road (a 2-way frontage road) at the first STOP sign. This is where you will underpass the freeway on your return trip, to access the I-80 West entrance ramp. But at this point, you proceed straight, staying on the right (south) side of I-80.

(3) Continue straight from the STOP sign, then bear right (east) at the freeway entrance ramp leading back to I-80 East, about 0.25 miles later.

(4) Follow this road for another 0.5 miles as it descends, underpasses the railroad, and then crosses into Storey County when it bridges the Truckee River across a modern structure which has now (finally) replaced the previous one-lane bridge.

(5) Immediately after crossing the river, bear right (south) at the old Mustang Ranch properties (by the trees and broken sign through the old parking areas) onto Peri Ranch Road.

(6) About two blocks (0.2 miles) later, past the "Burma Shave"-style signs (if they still remain), is the Old Bridge Ranch, on the left side of the road.

(1) I-80 Route (Direct Route):

(1:1) From the Sacramento area (and points north, south, and west), take I-80 East thru Auburn, over Donner Summit, past Truckee, then the California - Nevada state line, all the way to Reno and the interchange with U.S. 395 (exit #15) just east of downtown.
(1:2) Remain on eastbound I-80 at this point and follow the directions in the "How to get to the Patrick-area brothel from Reno" or the "How to get to the historical sites of the former Mustang Ranches & Old Bridge Ranch from Reno" sections above.

(2) U.S. 50 Route (via Carson City):

(2:1) From the Sacramento area (and points north, south, and west), take U.S. 50 East past Placerville, South Lake Tahoe, the California - Nevada state line, and finally to Carson City, NV, where U.S. 50 East turns left at U.S. 395 onto northbound South Carson Street.
(2:2) When U.S. 50 East splits off (at William Street) from its 3.3 mile long multiplex with U.S. 395 through the heart of Carson City, go straight (north), remaining on North Carson Street (U.S. 395 North) for another 3.7 miles to the Washoe County line.
(2:3) Continue northbound on U.S. 395 past Washoe Lake, thru Washoe City, over Washoe Summit, through Pleasant Valley and Steamboat Valley. Next, at about 15.9 miles from the Carson City - Washoe County border, you will reach the Tahoe Junction stoplight at NV 341 / NV 431. Go straight here, but get into (or stay in) the rightmost 2 thru lanes because around three blocks after the traffic signal you must bear right onto a freeway entrance ramp. Continue north, now on the U.S. 395 (unsigned I-580) freeway, until its junction with I-80 in Reno (exit #68), about 8.9 miles from the Tahoe Junction stoplight.
(2:4) Take exit #68 and bear to the right for I-80 East (toward Elko and Salt Lake City), then follow all of the directions in the "How to get to the Patrick-area brothel from Reno" or the "How to get to the historical sites of the former Mustang Ranches & Old Bridge Ranch from Reno" sections above.

(1) Proceed on I-80 West to the Patrick exit (#28), where after taking the exit ramp and crossing under I-80, you turn LEFT (east) onto the two-way traffic frontage road which parallels the Interstate to the south. Technically, you are now on "unsigned" NV 655 South as well as eastbound Waltham Way. DO NOT turn right here, as you will end up in the actual town of Patrick, on the wrong side of the river, far from the brothels.
(2) Continue east on the frontage road about 0.75 mile until it ends with a STOP sign in a T-intersection at the road from/to the (relatively new, relocated from what many maps show) eastbound freeway ramps. There is a sign here indicating that you must turn right for NV 655 South (continuation of eastbound Waltham Way) and left for the ramp up to eastbound I-80.
(3) Turn right (south) at this STOP sign, to continue on NV 655 South (which is NOT listed on any of the big green exit signs on I-80, by the way), heading toward the nearby Industrial Park. You then immediately cross a cattle guard, pass a dirt cross road (fenced off on both sides), then cross the relatively new bridge over the Truckee River (which marks the county line).

Map/Directions to historical sites of the former Mustang & Old Bridge Ranches from Westbound I-80:

How to get to the Reno-area (northwestern Storey County) Brothels from Las Vegas:
The best way to get to the Reno area brothels from Las Vegas is to fly to Reno-Tahoe International Airport (numerous flights and cheap airfares) then rent a car (or make other ground transportation arrangements). However, if are determined to make the six-to-eight hour drive (in good weather conditions and absent any major road construction and/or accident delays), a bonus is that you will pass several of the brothels described on the Southern Nevada pages of these driving directions along the way. So here are your detailed instructions:

(1) Head up U.S. 95 North from the Las Vegas metro area toward Tonopah. You will pass through the small towns of Beatty and Goldfield, skirting the Nevada Test Site and the Nellis Air Force Base Range on your way to Tonopah, the approximate half-way point of this journey (around 208 miles from downtown Las Vegas).

(2) At Tonopah, U.S. 95 meets up with U.S. 6, the Grand Army of the Republic Highway. Continue on U.S. 95 North (which is multiplexed with U.S. 6 West and runs mostly east-to-west in this 40-mile section) until the town of Coaldale.

(3) When you reach Coaldale, the multiplex ends, with U.S. 95 again heading north (U.S. 6 continues west then south to its western terminus in Bishop, CA). Continue north, then west, on U.S. 95 North thru the tiny burgs of Mina and Luning on the 64-mile journey to the town of Hawthorne, home of a large U.S. Army Ammunition Depot.

(4) After passing through Hawthorne, where the road turns north once again, U.S. 95 North will take you along the western shore of Walker Lake, beyond which lies the tiny settlement of Schurz (33 miles from Hawthorne), where you will have a decision to make as to how to proceed.

(5) At Schruz, you have two alternatives:

(5a) "via Fallon" route:
Shortest, most direct route:

(5a:1) Stay on U.S. 95 North at Schurz, which will take you directly to the town of Fallon, 39 miles later.

(5a:2) Once in Fallon, you will turn left (west) on U.S. 50 West.

(5a:3) Remain on U.S. 50 for about 9.4 miles, to the junction with Alternate U.S. 50 (a/k/a U.S. 50A) at Ragtown, where the four-lane highway currently ends.

(5a:4) Bear right to take Alternate U.S. 50 toward Interstate 80 at Fernley. You will pass through Hazen before reaching Fernley, where you will meet up with Alternate U.S. 95 just before approaching I-80 at exit #46, a total of around 19.2 miles from the split with mainline U.S. 50.

(5a:5) Take I-80 West (toward Reno) for about 18 miles to the Patrick exit (#28).

(5a:6) At this point, follow the directions in the "How to get to the Storey County brothels from Westbound I-80" section.

(5b) Alternate U.S. 95 to I-80 via Yerington and Silver Springs:
A slightly longer route (only by around 4 miles), but the way to go if you want to make a side trip to Mound House:

(5b:1) Turn left at Schurz onto Alternate U.S. 95 North (a/k/a U.S. 95A) and proceed northwest, then west to the town of Yerington.

(5b:2) At Yerington, the road turns north and continues on to Silver Springs, where you will meet up with U.S. 50 (about 57 miles from Schurz).

If you want take a side trip to visit the Mound House brothels at this point:

- Turn left (west) onto U.S. 50 here and proceed 24 miles to Dayton

- Then follow these steps from the Carson City-area brothels page

Otherwise, stay on Alternate U.S. 95 North at this intersection.

(5b:3) Continue straight (north) at Silver Springs, following Alternate U.S. 95 North for another 15 miles to Interstate 80 (exit #46) at Fernley, just beyond a junction with Alternate U.S. 50.

(5b:4) Take I-80 West (toward Reno) for about 18 miles to the Patrick exit (#28).

(5b:5) At this point, follow the directions in the "How to get to the Storey County brothels from Westbound I-80" section.

How to get to the Reno-area (northwestern Storey County) Brothels from Southern California:
Similar to the advice given to those traveling from Las Vegas, it is preferable to fly to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and then make your ground transportation arrangements from there. However, if you are set on driving, you have two general alternatives, as follows:

(1) U.S. 395 (Direct Route from most of Southern California):

(1:1) Proceed by your best local route to U.S. 395 North and follow it toward Bishop:

• From all of San Diego, Riverside, Orange and southern parts of San Bernardino Counties, get to the junction of I-15 and U.S. 395 North (exit #141) in Hesperia.
• From all of Los Angeles and most of Ventura Counties, use CA 14 North to get to U.S. 395 North near Inyokern.
• From other parts of San Bernardino County, get to the junction of U.S. 395 North and CA 58 at Four Corners (Kramer Junction).
• From eastern Kern County, use CA 14 North or U.S. 395 North (whichever is closer to you) and continue north on U.S. 395 past their junction near Inyokern.
• From western parts of southern Inyo County, get to U.S. 395 North.
• Exception: From eastern parts of southern Inyo County, use local roads to get to the California - Nevada state line, where you'll follow one of the conecting Nevada State Routes to get to U.S. 95 North, proceed on it to Tonopah, then follow all of the instructions from step 2 of the "How to get to the Reno-area Brothels from Las Vegas" directions above and ignore the remaining steps here.
• For all areas of Southern California not mentioned above, you are probably better off using the I-5 "via Sacramento" route detailed below.

(1:2) Continue on U.S. 395 North, thru the Owens Valley, past Bishop, thru the Mammoth Lakes region, by Mono Lake, and finally enter Nevada near Topaz Lake.

(1:3) Stay on U.S. 395 North all the way thru Carson City, unless you want to take a quick detour to the nearby brothels in Mound House.

If you want take a side trip to visit the Mound House brothels at this point:

- Turn right (east) U.S. 50 when it splits off from U.S. 395 at William Street (toward Dayton and Fallon)

- Follow U.S. 50 East for 5.5 miles to the Carson City - Lyon County border

- Then use these final steps from the Carson City-area page to get to the brothels

Otherwise, continue north on U.S. 395 to the Carson City - Washoe County border

(1:4) Follow the remaining directions from step 2.3 of "How to get to the Reno-area Brothels from Northern California" above.

(2) I-5 to I-80 (via Sacramento Route):

This route is best during periods of inclimate weather, as it has much more freeway mileage and avoids the many passes on U.S. 395 along the eastern spine of the Sierra Nevada mountains. However, you will still have to cross that mountain range at the infamous Donner Summit on I-80.

(2:1) Proceed by your best local route to Interstate 5. Take I-5 North all the way to Sacramento, exiting at Interstate 80 (exit #522) and proceeding on I-80 East toward Reno.

(2:2) Follow I-80 eastbound from Sacramento through Auburn, over Donner Summit, past Truckee and the California - Nevada state line, to the interchange with U.S. 395 just east of downtown Reno. From there, remain on I-80 East and follow the final instructions in the "How to get to the Patrick-area brothel from Reno" or the "How to get to the site of the former Mustang Ranches & Old Bridge Ranch from Reno" sections above.
